I really don’t know how to begin this post. How do you tell someone bad news? My father always told me to just say it, don’t beat around the bush. So here it is. My mother died.
Just like that.
No warning, nothing fancy.
She got up early to babysit my little boy but never made it out of her house. It’s so surreal, I saw her the day before as I hurried off to work. If I’d known, I would’ve stayed at home with her. So many if’s, so many questions. I’m still astounded. It feels like she is only gone for a holiday trip or something and she’ll be back soon. But she won’t be coming back. I miss her so much.
My mother past away on my aunt’s birthday, September 20. Ever since my father called me with the bad news my world hasn’t been te same. The first week was crazy busy. So many things we needed to take care of for the funeral. Now it’s time to stand still, to let everything settle in and to find a new balance. While I am writing all this down I’m noticing that it’s really hard to find a good balance to tell about all this. I want to share it but I also want to throw my computer out of the window and go back to bed.
I want to blog and draw and live life to the fullest… But I need to do it on my own terms. I need to deal with this, our family needs to deal with this and that takes time. That includes our Project 365. We will keep going, but like everything else, it’s not a priority right now. I realize that I won’t be standing still forever. And although I don’t want anybody telling me this right now, (like people do when they don’t know what else to say), I realize that in time the standing still will turn into small steps forward and the small steps will turn into bigger steps. That’s what my mom would’ve wanted. And by living my life, us as a family our lives, we will honor my mom and the legacy she has left behind.
