I wanted to share this post sooner with you but I am struggling with the photo’s I made. I don’t want to let you wait much longer but that means it’ll be without pictures, I am so sorry.

In the Netherlands, on the 30th of April each year, we celebrate ‘Queensday’, a national holiday that celebrates our queens birthday. (Actually it’s not even her real birthday, it’s her mother’s, who used to be queen a long time ago, but let’s not make things complicated).
The entire nation turns orange (literally) and I love it! Pretty much everyone is out on the streets, celebrating. We have this thing called the ‘Vrijmarkt’ (Free market) where everyone can sell their old stuff for bargain prices. When I was just a little girl, we used to do that every year. We’d take all of our unused and unliked toys and we’d try to sell them. With the money we earned we’d buy new toys.
It’s a win-win situation :)

This year we started our celebration in one of the suburbs of Amsterdam, a child-friendly and nice place. We took our little boy with us and he was loving it! We bought him some clothes and these amazing wooden shoes. I just love them! We also got him soms real baby Uggs for this coming winter for only E1,-! Did I mention yet how much I love Queensday?
After our bargain hunting, we brought him to my parents and my husband and I went to downtown Amsterdam. The atmosphere was simply amazing! The weather was great and everybody was in a good mood. We walked around this neighbourhood called ‘De Jordaan’ (The Jordan) and we just kept on finding amazing stuff. So, now I’m the proud owner of a display for cards (which belonged to a store), some great clothes (a Cacharel skirt with the labels still on for almost nothing!), shoes for E1,- (real leather!).
Afterwards we strolled along the canals and went to visit my grandma. She lives right in the heart of Amsterdam and I love her to death. We ate some real Dutch cake (oranje tompoezen – how about you google that!) and we ate dinner with her.
And after the nice long sunny day we went to my parents house again to pick up Mees, to go back to our beautiful, peacefull and neat little town…
